During ICSI a single sperm is injected into the egg. But IMSI takes ICSI to the next level. IMSI allows us to choose the very best sperm using a high power microscope that usually magnifies image to 6000 times or more. At this magnification level, the embryologist can usually detect subtle structural alterations in sperm that a normal microscope could not detect. This helps our embryologist’s to choose a morphologically best sperm for injection.
IMSI procedure is carried out exactly like ICSI once the best sperm has been selected.
